Join us for the 5th program of our 90th year with Cellist Eugene Zenzen in Recital
As a musician with wide-ranging interests, Zenzen has performed in bluegrass fiddle contests, rock recordings, in collaboration with jazz cellist Mike Karoub, with the Michigan Opera Theater Orchestra, and as principal cellist of Tokyo’s New Japan Philharmonic.
Eugene Zenzen received a Performer’s Certificate from Indiana University and was a faculty member at the University of Wyoming from 1982 to 1995 and at Washington State University from 2000 to 2006. An enthusiastic and dedicated teacher, Zenzen was the faculty advisor for the University of Wyoming ASTA student chapter and served for a time as president of the Wyoming state chapter of ASTA. He has given masterclasses at the Universities of Idaho, Nebraska, and Utah.
His performances in hundreds of concerts as soloist and chamber musician include appearances in Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Salt Lake City, Southern Oregon State College, the Universities of Nebraska and Iowa, the Western Arts Music Festival, the Mt. Fuji International Music Festival in Japan, the Chamber Music at the Scarab Club Series in Detroit, the Southern Great Lakes Chamber Series, as a member of the Bijou Chamber Ensemble in Pennsylvania, the Arcady Trio in England, and in the summers with the Silver Bay String Quartet in upstate New York.

Grosse Ile Musicale Presents Pianist Doug Scott
The Grosse Ile Musicale February program presents pianist Douglas Scott of Grosse Ile, Michigan, performing works of Brahms, Chopin, Debussy and Kapustin.
Doug is sought after as a composer, arranger, soloist, collaborative keyboardist, and conductor in a wide range of genres. He began studying piano at age 8 and began performing professionally at age 12. He graduated with the highest honors from Michigan State University where his principal teacher was pianist Ralph Votapek.
Doug is well known in our area. He has been a church musician since 1967, serving since 1985 at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church, where he was recently appointed Music Director. His Boars Head Festival has been performed regularly to capacity audiences since 1982. He is past president of the Southern Great Lakes Symphony and the Downriver Council for the Arts and is currently the president of the Grosse Ile Musicale.
